We believe God hears our prayers. We also believe it is right for us to
offer prayer on behalf of others. If you have something you'd like us to
include in our weekly prayer services, you can use the form below to let
us know. If you want only the pastor to view your request, simply say so
in your message. Your submission is anonymous unless you choose to share
your name and or email address.
Finally, please click the Submit button to send
your prayer request to the pastor.
Pray With Us
Most of us spend quite a bit of time communicating with
others each day. We exchange words face to face with family, friends,
and coworkers. Many of us regularly use email, cell phones, and text
messaging to interact with others. Some of us still write letters to
share news with family and friends both far and near.
Whatever method of communication you use, prayer is
simultaneously the greatest high tech and most readily available
non-technical means to get in touch with God, the Creator and Author of
Life.
Requiring no batteries to recharge, wires to plug in,
postage stamps to buy, or numbers to remember, prayer is simply talking
to God - wherever you are, whenever you want, whatever the reason.
Whether you talk out loud or silently in your head, God is listening,
and He is always ready and willing to hear.
Through prayer we can praise God for who He is and what
he has done. We can ask forgiveness for ourselves and make known all our
hurts, concerns, needs, and wants. We can ask God to help us see and
follow His plan for us.
There are no secret formulas for prayer -- no buzzwords
you are required to use to gain the ear of God. What matters most is
that the words you do use are heartfelt and genuine -- that they're
true.
Whether you're driving to buy groceries, lying in bed,
eating breakfast, or working on the computer, take time to share some
true words with God, and don't forget to listen for His response.
Prayer is part of our worship at First Southern. We also
have a weekly prayer meeting on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM when we gather to pray for our church,
our nation, and the known needs of church members, family, friends, and
acquaintances. You are welcome to join us in this time of prayer, and if
you have any needs you'd like us to include in this prayer time, please
call the church office or
send us a message
through this website.
